Teaching Focus: Colleen Muñoz teaches upper-level courses including Principles of Exercise Science, Cardiovascular Disease, Introduction to Human Pathology, and Research Methods. Her teaching implements lecture, group activities, writing-based techniques, and oral communication delivery, and she strives to familiarize students with recent and novel scientific advancements.
Professional Interests: Muñoz publishes laboratory and field-based research in the areas of nutrition, exercise, and stress physiology, and she presents her work at regional, national and international conferences. Her most recent work explored the genetic and molecular biology of dehydration and cellular stress, as well as more applied topics such as the utility of hydration biomarkers and water intake on mood state in young and older adults. She is continuing this work with undergraduate Health Science students who not only accumulate skills in research practices but also in interpersonal communication through subject interaction and scientific presentation at regional conferences. Muñoz serves the scientific community through committee work at the institutional, regional and national levels.
