About the Center

The Allan Center for Career and Professional Development was made possible by alumnus and current chair of the Board of Regents, Donald Allan Jr. ’86, and his wife, Marilyn. In addition to his role as president and CEO of Stanley Black & Decker, Don has remained connected to his alma mater as a passionate advocate for career readiness and professional development.

In 2024, the Allans longstanding partnership and leadership support was recognized with the new Center, which now bears their name.

“Our world is changing, and the next generation of makers, creators, tradespeople, and builders are the people who are going to ensure our industries remain collaborative, innovative, and ready to solve the next great challenge. I believe that UHart students are those leaders.”

Meet Our Student Ambassadors

The career student ambassadors and graduate students in the Office of Career and Professional Development each play an important role in helping students find their career passion—they meet with students, work on marketing materials, social media content, event planning, and more. Come by the Career Studio to meet them in person.

Keren Shahverdi

Career Student Ambassador, Keren Shahverdi, is a fourth-year Nursing major with a minor in Biochemistry. She loves being a part of the UHart community and getting involved in different ways. Keren is currently a LEAD ambassador for ENHP, President of Chabad Chevra, and a tour guide for the RedKey Society.

Alison Ho

Career Student Ambassador, Alison Ho, is an entrepreneurial studies major with a minor in project management. In addition to the Career Studio, she also works with the Office of Residential Life as an RA, and the Barney School of Business as a Student Ambassador. Alison has immersed herself in the Human Resources field, and plans to open a business of her own in the future.

Katrina Lacombe

Career Student Ambassador, Katrina Lacombe, is a Music Management and Commercial Voice major at The Hartt School. She is a diligent and dedicated student excited about working for a record label or as an artist manager in the future. Her growing skills as a musician help her to play both sides of the industry and offer support for students studying and working in the arts. She is looking forward to being part of the career community on campus and making more connections.
